Details of the 6th
UWA Machinima Challenge have been
released, with the headline news that this year the prize pool has been
increased to L$1,100,000. The first prize alone is L$200,000, more than enough to
keep me stocked in Ozimals rabbit food for a year!
This year’s theme is “Reflections”,
interpreted in whatever sense the machinimatographer sees fit. Entries have to
be submitted by midnight SLT 30th June 2013 with a recommended
maximum length of 4mins 30 secs.
This year I am collaborating
with singer-songwriter Lazurus Doghouse on a joint production.
Laz has already written and recorded a song especially for the contest; I will
handle the film and edit. The storyboard will be composed jointly between us.
When making films, my blog
here tends to go quieter as I direct all my spare leisure-time to the
production. I suspect that that will again be the case as, it goes without
saying, the competition attracts the very best filmmakers in SL and nothing
other than our very best efforts will suffix to make the grade.
